Alexandra qualified as a physiotherapist in London, UK, where she worked for several years before moving to Canada in 2018. She is a talented and cultured professional who brings many skills to the Meraki team. She is fluent in Farsi, Swedish, English, and has working proficiency in French.
Alexandra’s original plan had been to specialize in amputee rehabilitation but she started working in paediatrics and it just ‘clicked.’ She has not looked back since! She works with children with a wide range of conditions from cerebral palsy and traumatic brain injury to Down Syndrome and Muscular Dystrophy. She has developed several targeted groups for children with additional needs and their parents, both in the UK and Canada. These include groups for toddlers presenting with developmental delay, adapted sports groups, and adapted swim classes.
Her work is in the clinic, at a child’s home/school, in the park or in the pool! She is also adept at doing telehealth assessments and follow-up, which can be done at a distance in the most convenient way for families.
Her strong belief that disability does not mean inability drives her work and she has a special interest in supporting children with different abilities to access their school and community settings better and to maximize participation in leisure activities.
